In 1978 owner and founder Vickie
Roan didn’t know quite what hit her. On a whim she took a trip up to the Dallas
Market and walked away wide-eyed with an armful of “twisty beads” to bring back
to her friends. That one trip turned into decades of buying with individual clients
in mind, giving Vickie the reputation she needed to grow her business from “buying
for friends” to the premiere fine jewelry, gift and tabletop salon it is today.
In Austin – its hometown – The Menagerie is famous for its impeccable selection
of jewelry, gifts, china, crystal and silver. From the luxurious to the humorous,
every item makes its way into The Menagerie’s inventory because Vickie thinks it
deserves to be there.
Her motto is simple: celebrate.
"I never know whether I'll be showing a diamond ring to an excited young couple,
helping a father
pick out a pearl necklace for his daughter, or assisting one of
our brides as she chooses her china, crystal and silver. But, for certain, whatever
the day holds, it is all about celebrating life!"
From its humble beginnings as a home cottage jewelry business (the company literally
began on Vickie’s dining room table!) to its status today as Austin's premier fine
jewelry and gift salon, The Menagerie has learned how to adapt over the years. And
this website is no different.
